Michael Connor awaiting confirmation as ASA(CW)

Michael Connor was nominated by President Biden to serve as the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works on April 27, 2021. Upon confirmation, Mr. Connor will oversee the Corps of Engineers civil works program and guide policy direction for its water resources activities.

The Senate Armed Services Committee held a confirmation hearing and cleared Mr. Connor's nomination in July. The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee also held a confirmation hearing on Mr. Connor's nomination in July, and Committee Chair Carper anticipates moving the nomination in September. The schedule for a full Senate vote on the nomination is uncertain at this time.

Mr. Connor has an extensive public service record on water resources issues, including counsel for the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, Commissioner of the Bureau of Reclamation, and Deputy Secretary of the Department of Interior.

While Mr. Connor awaits final confirmation, Jaime Pinkham is serving as Acting ASA(CW).
